The Prince William Conservation Alliance invites the public to a walk, Leesylvania State Park Living Shoreline: Protecting Potomac River Shorelines, 2–4 p.m. Sept. 10 at Leesylvania State Park in Woodbridge, VA (meet in main/last parking lot). Ecologist Charles Smith and project designer Tom Dombrowski will show that attractive, stable shorelines can be created that protect wetlands and host many animal species by mixing traditional materials with native plants, biodegradable matting and wood. Learn how the park’s living shoreline was designed and functions and observe the benefits it provides to local communities and the Bay. Free. Preregistration required.
