Elf Classic Yacht Race

May 13, 2017

8:00am - 1:00pm

The Seventh Annual Elf Classic Yacht Race takes place May 13. The Classic Yacht Restoration Guild, Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum and Eastport Yacht Club sponsor the race, which includes a fleet of antique and classic sailing yachts. The race begins at 8 a.m. at the yacht club in Annapolis and features a nautical Le Mans start: the yacht captains meet on land, a whistle blows, each captain dashes to a tied-up dinghy or tender, they row out to their moored vessels and waiting crews, tie up their tenders, raise anchor, then race to the CBMM. In addition to custom-made awards, the winning captain is given his or her weight in beer from Fordham Brewing of Dover, DE. To register a yacht for the race, download the registration package at Proceeds benefit CYRG and CBMM. The racing fleet is limited; early registration is recommended, with preference given to wooden, classic and traditional yachts.

Fee: No
