Location: Perennial Roots Farm, 23345 Decormis Street, Accomac, Virginia 23301
Join us at Perennial Roots Farm on Virginia’s Eastern Shore to learn about permaculture, raising specialty crops, and integrated pasture management. Perennial Roots farmers Stewart Lundy and Natalie McGill will share their experience raising vegetables, flowers, eggs, and meat for local markets. Patrick Johnson, Small Farm Outreach Agent from Virginia State University, will discuss his research utilizing permaculture in intensive vegetable production.
Participants will also learn about the farm’s rotational grazing practices and engage in a hands-on barrel composting workshop. Please be prepared for hands-on work with gloves and muck boots. The educational program will be followed by a potluck lunch.
Perennial Roots Farm is a 50 acre biodynamic farm raising heritage animals, vegetables, and fruit. The farm employs biodynamic and permaculture practices to increase soil fertility and raise healthy food.
