ClearShark H2O, a nonprofit organization committed to protecting and preserving Maryland’s waterways, is hosting its 3rd Annual Brunch to benefit Maryland’s waterways on Sunday, February 26, 2017. Like years past, the much-anticipated event will raise the vital funds needed to expand and enhance ClearShark H2O’s environmental projects and educational programs, including its oyster-based curriculum offered in local schools.

ClearShark H2O promotes environmental stewardship by providing the community and youth with educational programs and initiatives. The nonprofit, which officially achieved its 501(c)3 status in 2016, was founded by Martin and Nichole Bentz. Growing up and living on the water, the duo were inspired to share their love for Maryland’s waterways with the community and its youth, and created ClearShark H2O as a way to revitalize engagement with one of Maryland’s most treasured resources and safeguard its future for years to come.

“Maryland’s waterways are a treasured natural resource, and one that all Marylanders should have the opportunity to experience. Through our programs and initiatives, we strive to better connect the community to our waterways, and empower Marylanders of all ages to advocate for this important resource,” commented Nichole Bentz, Co-Founder and Executive Director of ClearShark H2O. “The Brunch is our largest fundraising event of the year and will significantly impact our efforts to create, expand and improve our programs for 2017 and beyond. We are so grateful for those who support our efforts and share our mission to revitalize Maryland’s waterways.”

In 2016, the fundraiser raised $10,650, with proceeds benefitting the advancement of the nonprofits’ programs and initiatives. ClearShark H2O works with the Oyster Recovery Partnership to implement an oyster-focused curriculum in schools in Baltimore and Anne Arundel Counties. In the past year alone, ClearShark H2O has continued its work in five schools, and added two new schools to the roster for the 2017-2018 school year. In addition, the nonprofit partnered with several other like-minded organizations in 2016, such as Wish-A-Fish, the Chesapeake BaySavers and Restore Rock Creek, and invested more than $41,000 in schools, events, and other local organizations.

The Brunch will take place on Sunday, February 26, 2017 between 10 AM and 1 PM at Two Rivers Steak & Fish House in Pasadena, MD. The event features a bottomless brunch, complimentary drinks, live music, raffle prizes, giveaways, and much more. Tickets are $35 for one person and $65 for two people
